Classics. Silvia Raudvee

Editor: Anne Tiivel

The catalogue is a companion to an exhibition of the same name and gives an overview of the works of glass artist Silvia Raudvee in the 1961–1999 period. Working as an artist in the Byelorussian SSR’s glass factory Neman from 1961 to 1974 allowed her to create her own unique glass art on the side. Above all, Raudvee is a masterful creator of large glass and crystal sets characterized by a cool Nordic style, contrasting techniques, geometric forms and, occasionally, brightly coloured details. As a freelance artist, she is known for using diamond engraving to create lyrical nature-inspired practical and decorative forms. Raudvee has also produced monumental stained glass works on commission for public venues.
